1. What can I do to get recruited by college coaches?

The recruiting process is more of an art than a science. We do not have all the answers and cannot guarentee anything. There are many services out there that are very expensive and many are not very effective. If you ever have a question, please ask the coaching staff. What we reccomend that you do is to, first do the obvious, 1. Be a good student/citizen. 2. Be a good teammate, work hard in the weightroom/conditioning, do not miss workouts. 3. Make the most of your opportunity in practice and in games and make a lot of plays. It is easy to get you recruited when you make the plays and do the other things outlined here. Above all of the hype, coaches come to visit the head coach and will ask him about players. The word of mouth method is still the most effective thing that you can do to get noticed by college coaches, so work hard and give the coaching staff every reason to promote you.

Some things that you can do above and beyond the obvious. 1. Before we can do anything for you, you need to send your email address to Coach Gallagan or Coach Hundley so that we can add you to HUDL and invite you to join the video library of our games. After doing that, it is your responsibility to mark your highlights in HUDL. To find out more about HUDL, click here to view the HUDL orientation powerpoint. 2. Create a profile at scoutingohio.com. This is a free service and a place where you can post your videos so that you can share the link with college coaches. Once you have a user name and password, email to Coach Gallagan, Coach Gallagan will upload your highlight video to scoutingohio.com and then to jeromefootball.com. This is done after the season. 3. Ask Coach Hundley which summer camps he feels you should go to. You should be very strategic here so that you do not waste your time and money.

Again, this is an art, not a science, so the best thing you can do is work hard, be a good student/citizen and take advantage of your opportunities and make a lot of plays. The film speaks for itself and so will your work in the weightroom.

 

2. Team and Individual Highlight Video Timeline?

In-season - Players must mark their highlight.

Immediately after season - Players must finalize their highlights and share a playlist with Coach Gal

1-2 weeks after season - Coach Gal will create a team recruiting video and a team highlight video. The team highlight video is typically given out at the banquet on a DVD. The team recruiting DVD is created to give to college coaches as they come in and visit Coach Hundley (This may change as things move more to an online format, but for 2010 season, we will more than likely still have a team recruiting DVD).

2-4 weeks after the season - Coach Gal will work with players on a first come first serve basis to create individual highlight DVDs (Seniors receive first priority on DVDs). I will be glad to make extra copies of DVDs for any player, but the player will be responsible to provide the DVDs at their cost.

During the off-season - Coach Hundley will promote you to coaches that visit his office during recruiting periods. They will typically ask for transcripts of your grades and film, which we will provide them the team highlight DVD and if we get a special request for individual film, we will work with you on this. You can share your HUDL, jeromefootball.com and/or scoutingohio.com profile pages with any coach that requests film from you.

3. How do I get a video on jeromefootball.com?

Before we can get your video on jeromefootball.com, you need to do a couple things. 1. Mark your highlights on HUDL and share a playlist with Coach Gallagan. 2. We use scoutingohio.com as a way to host our videos online, so you need to create a profile at scoutingohio.com and share the user name and password with Coach Gallagan so that he can upload your highlight video.

 

4. How do I get a scoutingohio.com profile and video?

Scoutingohio.com is a free service that does offer some upgrades for a price, but their free service has been enough for our scholarship athletes. Create a profile and then give the username and password to Coach Gallagan so that he can upload your video. Keep in mind, that you must mark your highlights on HUDL and share a playlist with Coach Gallagan before we can upload your highlights. This is your responsibility.
